🏎 Math Racers — a free maths game for kids
Three lanes, three gates, one target number. Steer into the gate that matches — at speed.
The point is not the sum, it is recognising that 3×4, 6+6 and 24÷2 are all the same number, quickly, under mild time pressure. That fluency with equivalent representations is exactly what makes later fraction and algebra work feel easy.
How to play
- 1Your car drives itself. Watch the target number at the top of the track.
- 2Three gates rush toward you, each showing a different expression.
- 3Tap the lane — or use the arrow keys — whose gate equals the target.
- 4Correct gates build a combo: three in a row lights turbo. A miss only costs boost, never the race.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Math Racers too fast for young children?
- No. The gates approach slowly on the Pre-K and Kindergarten bands and speed up only as the grade rises, and a missed gate never crashes the car.
- What tracks are there?
- Number City, Fraction Desert, Geometry Mountain and Science Speedway. The track changes with the grade band you choose and with the skills being practised.
- Can it be played with a keyboard?
- Yes — left, right and up arrows steer, so it works on a laptop or Chromebook as well as on a touchscreen.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Math Racers is free with no signup and no ads.
