Changing states refers to how matter can change from one form to another. For example, water can be ice when it is very cold, and it can become steam when it is heated. This happens because of temperature changes. When ice warms up, it melts into water. If you heat the water enough, it will boil and turn into steam. These changes are called melting and boiling!
