Numbers can be classified into two groups: prime and composite. A prime number is a number greater than 1 that can only be divided by 1 and itself. For example, 5 is a prime number because it can only be divided evenly by 1 and 5. On the other hand, a composite number has more than two factors. For instance, 6 is a composite number because it can be divided by 1, 2, 3, and 6. Understanding the difference between these two types of numbers helps us with many math problems and concepts.
