Slope describes how steep a line is on a graph and is calculated by the change in vertical distance (rise) divided by the change in horizontal distance (run). Mathematically, it's written as 'slope = rise/run'. For example, if you walk up a hill that rises 4 meters for every 2 meters you move forward, the slope of that hill would be 4/2, which simplifies to 2. This means that for every 1 meter you move forward, you go up 2 meters. Slope can be positive, negative, or zero. A positive slope means the line goes up from left to right, while a negative slope means it goes down. A slope of zero means the line is flat. Understanding slope helps you analyze graphs and make predictions based on trends.
