What You'll Learn
A metal transfers outer electrons to a non-metal, producing oppositely charged ions held together by strong electrostatic attraction in a giant lattice. Sodium loses one electron and chlorine gains it, giving Na⁺ and Cl⁻ in a 1:1 ratio.

Steps
