Then & Now
๐ฐ๏ธ People still argue about this. Now you'll see why.
The Crusades were a series of religious wars initiated by European Christians in the late 11th century, aimed at reclaiming the Holy Land from Muslim control. The First Crusade began in 1096 and resulted in the capture of Jerusalem in 1099, leading to a period of Crusader states in the region. Subsequent Crusades, however, faced significant challenges, including logistical difficulties and strong Muslim resistance, particularly from leaders like Saladin. While the Crusades ultimately failed to establish lasting Christian control over the Holy Land, they facilitated increased cultural exchanges between Europe and the Middle East, influencing trade, warfare, and ideas.
