Then & Now
๐ฐ๏ธ The choices made back then are why the world looks like this now.
The Great Depression, which began in 1929 and lasted throughout the 1930s, was a profound economic downturn that had devastating effects on millions of Americans. Triggered by the stock market crash of October 1929, the Depression led to widespread unemployment, bank failures, and significant declines in industrial production. In response to the crisis, President Franklin D. Roosevelt implemented the New Deal, a series of programs and policies aimed at economic recovery and social reform. The New Deal included initiatives such as the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Social Security Act, fundamentally changing the relationship between the government and the American people by establishing a social safety net and promoting economic stability.
