Why it matters
Most feedback is read once and never applied. Systematically converting it into a checklist is the fastest available improvement.
What it looks like when it's wobbly
Looks at the grade, ignores the comments, and repeats the same errors all year.

The Personal Rubric
- 1Gather three marked pieces and list every comment.
- 2Group them — most students have three recurring issues, not fifteen.
- 3Turn each into a checkable instruction: "every paragraph ends with a link to the question".
- 4Check the next draft against that personal list before submitting.
- 5Retire an item once two consecutive pieces come back clean on it.
If it's too hard
One piece of work, one recurring issue.
If it's too easy
Ask a teacher directly what one change would move the grade most, and act on it.

"Same comment three times. That's the one thing to fix — put it on the checklist."
