Inequalities are mathematical statements that show the relationship between two values that are not equal. They use symbols like < (less than), > (greater than), โ‰ค (less than or equal to), and โ‰ฅ (greater than or equal to). For example, if you have the inequality 3x + 2 > 11, it means that when you multiply 3 by a number x and then add 2, the result is greater than 11. To solve this inequality, you would first subtract 2 from both sides, giving you 3x > 9. Then, dividing both sides by 3, you find x > 3. This tells you that x can be any number greater than 3. Inequalities help us compare quantities and can be used in real-life situations, such as determining scores needed to pass a test or the amount of money you can spend.
