The Battle of Gettysburg, fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863, is often considered one of the turning points of the Civil War. This battle took place in Pennsylvania and involved the largest number of casualties of the entire war. The Union Army, led by General George Meade, faced off against the Confederate Army, commanded by General Robert E. Lee. The Union's victory at Gettysburg halted Lee's invasion of the North, marking a crucial change in momentum for the Union forces.
