Chinese Brush Painting: Bamboo

Load your brush with black ink. Hold it upright, near the tip of the handle.

Paint bamboo stalks with single, confident strokes. Start at the bottom, lifting as you reach the top for a tapered line.

Add joints with a quick horizontal stroke at intervals.

Paint leaves with quick, angled strokes—press down and lift quickly for a pointed leaf shape.
