Know exactly where your child is — and what to teach next.
An adaptive diagnostic that moves up and down the grades until it finds your child’s level in every strand of math and reading. About 12 minutes. Every answer explained. A practice plan you can start right away.
179 skills · 9 strands · read aloud for pre-readers

Dashed line = their grade. Shaded bar = where the true level very likely is.
How it works
- 1
Pick their grade
We start there — never at the bottom — so no time is wasted on questions that are far too easy.
- 2
They answer, we adapt
Each question is chosen at the level where it tells us most. Right answers go up, misses step down — as far as Pre-K or Grade 10.
- 3
You get the full picture
A level for every strand with an honest confidence band, the skills they can do, the gaps, what’s next, and every answer explained.
Built to be more useful than a score
Most diagnostics hand you a number. This one hands you a plan — and shows its working.
Every strand measured on its own
A child is rarely “Grade 4”. They're Grade 5 in number sense and Grade 3 in fractions. Each strand gets its own level, so the report shows the uneven profile that actually tells you what to teach.
Honest about how sure it is
Every level comes with a band showing where the true level very likely is. Short tests that print one precise-looking number are overstating what they know.
Every question and answer, explained
The report shows each question, what your child chose, the right answer and why — so you can see the misunderstanding, not just the score.
“I don’t know yet” is an answer
Children are never forced to guess. Guessing is the noise that makes short diagnostics wrong; an honest “not yet” is cleaner evidence, and the scoring treats it that way.
Practice the exact skill, instantly
Every “ready next” skill has a Practice button that opens fresh questions generated from the same skill — with feedback and the explanation after each answer.
Growth you can see
Take it again in a week or a month. The report shows where each strand was last time and how far it has moved.
No reading needed for little ones
Questions are read aloud up to Grade 2, and Pre-K answers are pictures, dots, shapes and colors. A five-year-old is measured on what they know, not on reading the instructions.

Questions parents ask
How long does the skills check take?
About 12–15 minutes per subject from Grade 3 up, and about 8 minutes for Pre-K to Grade 2. It stops each strand as soon as it is confident, and caps the length so it never turns into a test of stamina. There's a Finish button if your child is tired — you still get a report from what they answered.
Is it really free?
Yes. Both subjects, the full report, the answer review, the practice questions and growth tracking are free with no sign-up.
How does it work out my child's level?
It starts at the grade you pick, then chooses each question at the level where it will learn the most about your child, moving down toward Pre-K or up toward Grade 10 as they answer. Each strand keeps a probability estimate of your child's level that every answer updates. A strand ends when that estimate is precise enough, after a capped number of questions, or after three misses in a row — so a struggling child is never ground down.
Why doesn't my child see whether they got it right?
Because feedback during a diagnostic changes the answers that follow. A child who sees two crosses in a row starts guessing or gives up. They see the same warm “got it” after every answer, and you see everything in the report. The practice questions afterwards do show right and wrong, because by then the job is teaching.
What does “Grade 3.4 level” mean?
It means your child is comfortably handling skills taught about four tenths of the way through Grade 3. The band beside it shows the range the true level very likely sits in. It is a short skills check, not a standardized, nationally normed test — use it to decide what to practice next, not to label a child.
Which grades and subjects does it cover?
Math and Reading & Language, from Pre-K to Grade 10, across 179 skills. Math covers number sense, operations, fractions and percents, algebra, and geometry and data. Reading covers phonics and spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.
Can I use it for homeschool placement?
Yes — that's one of the best uses. Because each strand is levelled separately, you can start math at one grade and reading at another, and see the specific gaps to fill before moving on. Retake it every few weeks to see growth.
