Still Life With Fruit

Practice observation in this art lesson: still life with fruit.

🎨 Studio Brief #2

Arrange three pieces of fruit on a table and draw them from observation.

🎯 Your mission

Don't erase. Sketch over until it sings.

⚡ The twist

No erasing. Mistakes become part of the drawing.

Step 1 of 4

Arrange fruit on a cloth with a single light source from one side.

Step 2 of 4

Sketch the basic shapes lightly: circles for apples, ovals for pears.

Step 3 of 4

Observe the shadows—where light hits and where it doesn't. Add shading with the side of your pencil.

Step 4 of 4

Add details like stems, spots, and the texture of the fruit skin.
