One-Point Perspective: A Road (Part 6)

Practice one-point perspective in this art lesson: one-point perspective: a road (part 6).

🎨 Studio Brief #64

Draw a road that appears to stretch into the distance using one-point perspective.

🎯 Your mission

See the shape under the thing. Draw the shape first.

⚡ The twist

Draw with your wrong hand for the first 30 seconds.

What you'll learn

Draw a road that appears to stretch into the distance using one-point perspective. A vanishing point on the horizon is where all lines converge, creating the illusion of depth.

Step 1 of 4

Draw a horizontal line across the middle of your paper. Mark a dot in the center—this is your vanishing point.

Step 2 of 4

Draw two diagonal lines from the bottom corners of the paper up to the vanishing point. These are the road edges.

Step 3 of 4

Add dashed center lines that get closer together as they approach the vanishing point.

Step 4 of 4

Draw trees or telephone poles along the road, making them smaller as they recede.

🤯 Mind = Blown

🤯 Drawing the same thing twice usually makes the second one better — and the third one weirder.
