LittleActivity vs Twinkl

A subscription teaching-resource library with millions of items, originally British and now localised for many curricula.

Last updated: 23 August 2026

The short answer

Twinkl's library is enormous and its curriculum localisation is the best in this list — separate material for England, Scotland, Australia, the US and more. Almost all of it needs a subscription. LittleActivity is US-curriculum-first, free, and attached to a planned day rather than a search box.

What Twinkl does better, and what we do instead

Twinkl against LittleActivity

Pros

  • Genuine curriculum localisation — separate catalogues for several national curricula, not one relabelled
  • Sheer volume: millions of resources, with new material added continuously
  • Editable formats, so a teacher can change a worksheet before printing it
  • Strong early-years and special-educational-needs material
  • Display resources and classroom decoration at a scale we do not attempt

Cons

  • Free printables with no subscription and no download allowance
  • A planned school day, not a resource library to search
  • Games, lessons and stories alongside the printables
  • Homeschool records that build themselves
  • Printable wall charts included free rather than as a subscription tier

The left column is what Twinkl is genuinely better at. The right column is not a list of their faults — it is what we do that they do not attempt. A product is allowed to not do something.

Pricing

We have not been able to read Twinkl’s current pricing from their live pages, so we are not going to quote it — see their own page. Ours is on our pricing page, before you sign up for anything.

Stay with Twinkl if…

You teach outside the US curriculum, or you need editable files. Twinkl is the strongest answer to both.

Move to LittleActivity if…

You are paying a subscription mainly to download worksheets, and you teach a US curriculum.

The one structural difference

Most families run a content product, a separate planner, and a spreadsheet for records, and nothing in that stack is the system of record. LittleActivity is one system: the same work that teaches your child produces the attendance, the report card, the portfolio and the transcript, and every school day has an authored off-screen task so a broken tablet does not end the day.

In numbers: 5,947 free printable PDFs and 2,160 authored off-screen school days, both counted from the catalogues themselves and checked in our build rather than written by hand.

How this comparison was made

  • Their claims are theirs. Grade range, subjects and product shape are taken from what Twinkl says about itself on its own public pages, linked above.
  • Prices are gated. A price appears only with the date a person read it on the vendor’s own page. Most pricing pages in this market render client-side and cannot be checked automatically, so most of these comparisons quote no price at all rather than repeat one that may be a year old.
  • Our numbers are generated. Printable, poster and school-day counts come from the catalogues they describe and are verified in our build, so a marketing round number cannot creep in.
  • A dash is not a cross. Where we have not established a row, the table shows a dash. We do not score a competitor down for something we did not check.
  • We are not neutral. This page is written by one of the two products. That is why it leads with what Twinkl does better and names who should stay with it — judge the page on whether those sections are real.

LittleActivity vs Twinkl: common questions

Is there a free alternative to Twinkl for US teachers?

LittleActivity's printable catalogue is free with no subscription and no download allowance, aligned to US grade levels and Common Core maths standards, covering Pre-K to Grade 10. Twinkl's library is far larger and covers several national curricula; ours is free and US-first.

Are LittleActivity's worksheets editable like Twinkl's?

No. Ours are generated as finished vector PDFs, which keeps quality and layout consistent but means you cannot change the wording before printing. If editability matters to how you teach, Twinkl is the better tool.

Does LittleActivity have display or classroom resources?

Yes — printable wall charts covering every grade, free to download. Twinkl's display range is much larger and more varied; ours is included rather than tiered.

Does Twinkl teach lessons or just supply resources?

It supplies resources; the teaching is yours. LittleActivity has taught lesson tracks in every subject, games, and a planned day, with the printables as one part of it rather than the whole product.

Should I choose LittleActivity or Twinkl?

Choose Twinkl if: A teacher outside the US, or one who needs curriculum-specific resources at industrial volume. Choose LittleActivity if: A family or teacher who wants a free catalogue and a planned day rather than a resource search. Both are real answers — the deciding question is usually whether you want one subject or one tool done well, or the whole school day planned, printed and recorded.

How much does Twinkl cost compared with LittleActivity?

We have not been able to read Twinkl's current pricing from their live pages and check it, so we do not quote a figure — see their own site for it. LittleActivity's price is published on our pricing page before you sign up, it is one family price rather than a charge per child, and the games, printables and lessons are free with no account.
