Career clusters group occupations that share knowledge, skills, and work settings, which makes exploring them manageable — sixteen clusters instead of thousands of job titles. Health science, information technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and education are examples, and each contains roles at very different levels of training, so one cluster can include a job needing a certificate and one needing a doctorate. Clusters are useful because skills transfer within them, so a person who trains in one role often has a route to several others.
