Rank them and, crucially, state the criterion — necessary, sufficient, or immediate trigger. Test the top one with the counterfactual: without it, does the event still happen? Find a historian who ranks them differently and read why. Write a paragraph defending the ranking against that alternative. SAY THIS WHEN IT STALLS "Why does that one beat the others? Name the test you're using to rank them." Rank three given causes. Argue that the conventionally accepted main cause is overrated, with evidence.
