For the grown-up: say every prompt out loud. Nothing on this sheet asks the child to read or write. 1 THE TWO-MINUTE CHECK ASK "Coat on, please." Then stand back and time it. A SOLID ANSWER They attempt it and mostly get there. Backwards is a pass. Not yet Getting there Solid 2 THE COAT FLIP You need: Their coat, A timer if they like a race Lay the coat on the floor, hood at their feet, opened out. They stand at the hood, put both arms into the sleeves, and flip it over their head. It works every time and it feels like magic. Practise three times while nobody is in a hurry — never at the front door when you're late. Add a tidy-up song with a fixed length. The song ends, the tidying ends. Give one job that is genuinely theirs forever: their shoes on the rack, every time. SAY THIS WHEN IT STALLS "I'll wait. You can do this one — I've seen you." You start the zip, they pull it up. Doing the last step of a task builds more confidence than watching the first. Add the bag, the water bottle, and a full leaving-the-house sequence they run themselves.
