The Hook of a Pop Song

Learn about the hook of a pop song: improvise a melody over a given chord progression

🎵 Stage Brief #21

Vocal melodies must fit the singer's range.

🎯 Your mission

Sing along — even if no one's listening.

⚡ The twist

A melody you can hum is a melody that works.

What you'll learn

Vocal melodies must fit the singer's range. Composers think about tessitura—the most comfortable part of a voice's range.
