Quarter Notes and Eighth Notes (Part 2)

Learn about quarter notes and eighth notes (part 2): read and perform quarter-note and eighth-note rhythms

🎵 Stage Brief #33

Syncopated rhythms accent the 'and' between beats.

🎯 Your mission

Feel the beat. Clap with it. Don't lose it.

⚡ The twist

Tempo isn't speed for the sake of it — it's the heartbeat of the song.

What you'll learn

Syncopated rhythms accent the 'and' between beats. Try clapping on '1-and-2-and' but only on the 'ands.' That is syncopation.
