Blends are special sounds made when two or three letters come together at the beginning of a word. For example, 'bl' in 'black,' 'cr' in 'cry,' and 'st' in 'star' are blends. They help us make new words and sound out letters together! When we say 'black,' we blend the sounds of 'b' and 'l.'
