Funny Parts and Surprises Entertain

Spot the funny or surprising parts that show writing is meant to entertain.

When writing entertains, authors use tricks to keep you smiling or wondering. They add funny surprises, silly words, and exciting turns. Read: 'Grandpa put on his glasses to read the newspaper. But they were not his glasses.

They were the dog's swimming goggles! ' The surprise at the end is a joke. Authors also use sound words like 'kaboom' and 'splat,' or make characters do silly things, like a goat wearing pajamas.
