Predicting with Clues

Use clues from the story to guess what will happen next.

A prediction is a smart guess about what will happen next. It's not a wild guess. It uses clues from the story plus what you already know. Read: 'Dark clouds filled the sky. Theo looked up and felt a drop on his nose. His umbrella was at home.

' What will happen? Clues: dark clouds, a drop, no umbrella. What you know: dark clouds bring rain. Prediction: Theo is going to get wet! When you predict, say your clues out loud: 'I think ___ because ___. '
