Regrouping subtraction helps us when we need to subtract larger numbers. Sometimes, when the top number is smaller than the bottom number in a column, we can't subtract directly. For example, in 42 - 27, we can't take 7 from 2, so we regroup. We borrow 1 ten from the 4 in the tens place, changing it to 3. Now, we have 12 in the ones place. So, 12 - 7 equals 5, and 3 - 2 equals 1. The answer is 15!
