When we compare three-digit numbers, we look at the hundreds, tens, and ones places. The number with more hundreds is larger. For example, 245 has 2 hundreds, while 136 has 1 hundred. Since 2 is greater than 1, 245 is bigger than 136. If the hundreds are the same, we then check the tens place to see which number is larger.
