Regrouping addition helps us solve problems when the numbers we add are too big for a single column. When we add two numbers, like 27 and 45, we start from the right side. First, we add 7 and 5, which equals 12. Since 12 is more than 10, we write down 2 and carry over 1 to the next column. Then we add 2, 4, and the 1 we carried over, which equals 7. So, 27 plus 45 equals 72!
