Prefixes are special word parts that come at the beginning of a word to change its meaning. The prefixes 'un-', 're-', and 'pre-' are very common. For example, 'un-' means 'not,' so 'happy' becomes 'unhappy,' which means 'not happy.' The prefix 're-' means 'again,' so 'do' becomes 'redo,' which means 'do again.' Lastly, 'pre-' means 'before,' so 'view' becomes 'preview,' which means 'to see before.'
