Soil has different layers, just like a cake! The top layer, called topsoil, is rich in nutrients and helps plants grow. Below that is subsoil, which has fewer nutrients and holds water. The deepest layer is called bedrock, made of solid rock. Each layer has its own job, like helping plants or holding water, and they all work together to support life on Earth. For example, when it rains, topsoil helps the water soak into the ground to reach plant roots.
