Fossils are the remains of plants and animals that lived a long time ago. When dinosaurs died, some of their bones and footprints were buried under mud and sand. Over millions of years, the mud and sand turned into rock, and the bones became fossils. For example, the famous Tyrannosaurus rex had large bones that scientists have found and studied. These fossils help us learn what dinosaurs looked like and how they lived.
