Comparing fractions helps us understand which fraction is larger or smaller. To compare fractions, we can look at their numerators and denominators. For example, if we compare 1/4 and 1/2, both fractions have different denominators. We can find a common denominator, which is 4 in this case. So, 1/2 becomes 2/4. Now we can see that 1/4 is smaller than 2/4, so 1/4 is less than 1/2.
