Simple machines are tools that make work easier. They help us move heavy objects or change the direction of a force. There are six types of simple machines: lever, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, wedge, and screw. For example, a lever, like a seesaw, uses a long arm to lift something heavy with less effort. When you push down on one side, the other side goes up, making it easier to lift the weight.
