Sound waves are vibrations that travel through the air, or other materials, like water and solids. When something makes a sound, like a guitar string being plucked, it creates waves in the air. These waves move to our ears, where they are turned into sounds that we can hear. For example, when you clap your hands, the sound waves travel to your friend's ears, allowing them to hear the clap! So, sound waves help us communicate and enjoy music.
