The Letter

We had to write a letter in class. We could write to anyone we wanted. I decided to write to my grandmother. She lived in another state. I did not see her often. I wrote about school. I wrote about my friends. I wrote about the book I was reading. I asked her questions. I asked about her garden. I drew a picture at the bottom. I put the letter in an envelope. I wrote her address. I put a stamp on it. I gave it to the teacher. She mailed it for us. Two weeks later I got a letter back. My grandmother had written me a long letter. She said she loved my letter. She had discovered that I was a good writer. Perhaps we would write each other every month. I had learned that letters can connect people. The adventure of writing had brought us closer. I could not wait to write again.
