A complex sentence is a type of sentence that has one main idea and at least one extra part called a dependent clause. The dependent clause can't stand alone and often starts with words like 'because,' 'although,' or 'when.' For example, in the sentence 'I went to the park because it was sunny,' 'I went to the park' is the main idea, and 'because it was sunny' gives extra information. This extra part helps us understand why the first part happened. Complex sentences make writing more interesting by combining different ideas together.
