The area of a rectangle tells us how much space is inside it. To find the area, you multiply the length by the width. For example, if a rectangle is 4 meters long and 3 meters wide, you would calculate the area like this: 4 x 3 = 12. This means the area of the rectangle is 12 square meters. The 'square meters' tells us we are measuring space in two dimensions. Remember, length goes one way, and width goes the other!
