We planned a surprise party for my mom's birthday. We had to keep it secret. It was hard. We had to whisper when we talked about it. We invited family and friends. We ordered a cake. We decorated the house when she was at work. We hung balloons. We put up a sign. When she came home we all yelled surprise. She was so surprised. She exclaimed that she had no idea. We had discovered that keeping a secret was worth it. We had a magnificent time. We ate cake. We played games. We gave her gifts. She said it was the best birthday she had ever had. I had considered telling her by mistake. I had almost slipped many times. But I had kept the secret. The experience of planning the party had been fun. The opportunity to make my mom happy had been a gift. I was exhausted when everyone went home. But I was happy. The surprise party had been a success. I would never forget the look on her face. It was worth every secret.
