I had promised to help my friend with his project. But I had a lot of homework. I had a game. I did not have time. I told him I could not help. He was upset. He had counted on me. I had broken my promise. I felt terrible. I had discovered that promises matter. When you say you will do something you should do it. I had considered that my homework was more important. Maybe it was. But I should have said no in the first place. Or I should have helped before I made other plans. The experience taught me a lesson. I went to his house the next day. I said I was sorry. I helped him then. He had already done most of it. But he said thank you. The opportunity to make it right was there. I had taken it. I had learned that when you break a promise you try to fix it. You say you are sorry. You do better next time. I would never forget that. I would be more careful about what I promised.
