I was playing ball in the backyard. I threw the ball too hard. It hit the window. The glass broke. I was scared. I had never broken anything so big before. I went inside and told my mom. She was upset. She said we had to fix it. I had to use my allowance to help pay. I had discovered that actions have consequences. I had considered not telling her. But I knew that would be wrong. So I told the truth. We called a company to fix the window. They came the next day. They put in new glass. I gave my mom the money I had saved. She said she was proud that I had told the truth. The experience was not fun. But I had learned something important. When you make a mistake you own it. You do not hide. The opportunity to do the right thing had been there. I had taken it. I was exhausted from worrying. But I felt better. I would be more careful with the ball. I would not play so close to the house. The broken window had taught me a lesson. I would not forget it.
