Energy comes in different forms, and each form has a unique way of being used. For example, kinetic energy is the energy of moving objects. When you ride a bike down a hill, you are using kinetic energy because your bike is moving! Another form is potential energy, which is stored energy. When you stretch a rubber band, it has potential energy, and when you let it go, that energy turns into kinetic energy as it snaps back. Other forms of energy include thermal (heat) energy and electrical energy. Understanding these forms of energy helps us see how they work together in our everyday lives.
