Water on Earth moves in a cycle. The sun heats water in oceans and lakes. Some water turns into vapor and goes up into the sky. This is called evaporation. The vapor forms clouds. When clouds get heavy, rain or snow falls. That is precipitation. The water runs back into rivers and oceans. Then the cycle starts again.
