Informational Books for Curious Minds

Informational books are full of true facts on topics you're curious about.

Reading for fun doesn't have to mean stories. Informational books, also called nonfiction, are packed with true facts about animals, space, sports, history, inventions, the human body, and more. Many readers love them because they feed curiosity: you start with one question and finish with ten new ones. Unlike a novel, you don't have to read an informational book from cover to cover.

Use the table of contents and index to jump to what interests you. For example, if you're curious about deep-sea creatures, flip to the index, find 'anglerfish', and go straight to page 34, where you learn it uses a glowing lure to attract prey in the dark. Look for books with photos, diagrams, and sidebars. Then share a fact you learned with someone. Explaining it helps you remember it.
