A long time ago, people could not talk to someone far away. They had to send letters. Then Alexander Graham Bell had an idea. He worked for many years. In 1876 he made the first telephone. When you spoke into it, your voice traveled through a wire. The other person could hear you. Today we have phones that need no wires at all.
