Complex grammar refers to the use of intricate sentence structures that go beyond simple sentences. It includes compound and complex sentences, which help add variety and depth to writing. A compound sentence combines two independent clauses using a conjunction, like 'and' or 'but.' For example, 'I wanted to go for a walk, but it started to rain.' A complex sentence includes an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses, which cannot stand alone. For instance, 'Although it was raining, I decided to go for a walk.' Here, 'Although it was raining' is a dependent clause that adds more detail to the main idea. Using complex grammar makes writing more interesting and helps convey thoughts more clearly.
