The Medieval Period, often called the Middle Ages, lasted from around the 5th to the late 15th century. This time began after the fall of the Roman Empire and was marked by the rise of feudalism. In feudalism, society was structured like a pyramid. At the top were kings, followed by nobles, knights, and peasants. Nobles owned large lands and provided military support to kings, while knights served as warriors. For example, a noble might grant land to a knight in exchange for protection. Daily life during this period was often challenging for peasants, who worked the land and paid taxes to the nobles. The Medieval Period also saw the construction of grand castles and the spread of the Christian Church, which played a major role in people's lives and education. Overall, this era shaped much of modern Europeโ€™s culture and political systems.
