Absolute monarchs are rulers who have complete control over their country and government. They make laws, collect taxes, and decide how to spend the nation's money without needing approval from anyone else, like a parliament. This system often means that the monarch's word is law, and their power is inherited, usually passed down from parent to child. A famous example of an absolute monarch is King Louis XIV of France, who ruled from 1643 to 1715. He famously said, 'L'État, c'est moi,' meaning 'I am the state.
