An ecosystem is a community of living things and their environment. Plants make food using sunlight. Animals eat plants or other animals. When animals die, their bodies break down and help the soil. New plants grow from the soil. This cycle keeps the ecosystem going. If one part is damaged, it can affect the rest. So we need to protect ecosystems.
