Memoir and autobiography are both types of writing that tell a person's life story, but they focus on different aspects. An autobiography covers the entire life of the author, from birth to the present. For example, 'The Diary of a Young Girl' by Anne Frank is an autobiography that tells her experiences during World War II. A memoir, however, zooms in on specific events or themes in a person's life, offering more reflection and emotion. For instance, 'Educated' by Tara Westover is a memoir that explores her journey from growing up in a strict, survivalist family to pursuing education. While autobiographies aim for a comprehensive view, memoirs provide insight into particular moments that shaped the author's identity. Both forms help readers connect with the author's experiences and understand their perspectives.
