Congruence in geometry means that two shapes are exactly the same in size and shape. When two figures are congruent, one can be transformed into the other through rotations, translations, or reflections without changing their dimensions. For example, consider two triangles with sides measuring 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm each. If you can superimpose one triangle onto the other perfectly, they are congruent. This can be proven using congruence criteria like Side-Side-Side (SSS), where all three sides of one triangle are equal to the three corresponding sides of another triangle. Congruent shapes not only look the same but also have equal angles and areas.
