Sorting Words into Groups

Words can go into groups that belong together. Dog, cat, and fish are all animals.

Apple, bread, and cheese are all foods. Ball, doll, and blocks are all toys. When we sort, we ask: how are these alike?

Try this group: car, bus, train. They are all things that take us places!

Your grown-up names three words, and you name the group.

• 1Words can be sorted into groups
• 2Ask: how are they alike?
