The Five-Finger Retell

Your hand can help you retell! Hold up one finger at a time. Thumb: who was in it? Pointer: where was it?

Middle: what was the problem? Ring finger: what happened? Pinky: how did it end?

Try it with this story: 'A puppy lost his ball in the park. He sniffed and sniffed. He found it under a bench!

' Five fingers, five parts.

• 1Use your hand to retell
• 2Each finger is one part
• 3Who, where, problem, events, end
